Q: What’s the [good] deed through which you maintain probably the most hope?
Abu Uthman al-Wa’idh: When I grew up, I needed to marry however I [always] refused.
A lady got here to me and mentioned: O Abu Uthman! I like you with a love that left me with neither sleep nor relaxation. I ask you by the One who turns hearts and I take Him as an intercessor to you so that you just marry me.
[I asked]: Do you’ve a father?
[She said]: Yes.
She known as him, and I married her.
When I used to be alone along with her, I noticed that she was one-eyed, lame, deformed, so I mentioned: O Allaah, reward comes again to you for what You’ve predestined for me!
My members of the family blamed me for marrying her, however I confirmed extra kindness and generosity to her.
Sometimes she saved me and stopped me from attending lessons, and generally I boiled [with anger], however I didn’t present her something, so I stayed for fifteen years, and I’ve no extra hope aside from the truth that I’ve preserved what she felt in her coronary heart in direction of me [i.e. I did not give her a chance to regret loving me].
